What may I throw away in a skip?

If you’re considering hiring a skip for a project at home or at work, it’s crucial to understand what can go in the skip and what must be
disposed of elsewhere.

We’ve put together this handy checklist so you can know right away what you can and can’t put in a skip.

What may I throw away in a skip?

Items that can be disposed of in one of our skips include:

Bricks are used to build structures.

Constructing rubble

Food and food packaging are examples of household waste.

furnishings

Furnishings are the things that make a house a home.

Fixtures (non-electrical)

A type of foliage

Cookers that run on gas

a strong foundation

Metallurgy

Plastic is a material that is used to make things.

Cardboard, plastics, and styrofoam are examples of packaging materials.

a type of soil that has not been contaminated with asbestos or oil

Paint that has solidified

is a kind of wood

Are there any additional restrictions on what I can put in a skip?

After you’ve made sure you’re not tossing anything forbidden in your skip, make sure it’s not overloaded.

Your skip cannot be overfilled by law; it must have a “level load,” which means that nothing should be higher than the sidewalls. This is for
your own safety, and if you do overload your skip, your skip rental company will have to charge you extra or remove the extra rubbish.
